2018 facelift differences
« on: October 07, 2019, 12:28:18 PM »
Other than the outward body styling changes on the 2018 facelift model, are there any internal differences? Seats and headrests look the same.

What about the infotainment system? Is MirrorLink only on the facelift versions or also on the 2015-2017 versions?

I'm about to buy so would appreciate any info, as that will help me decide between a 16/17 plate or an 18 plate if there is anything significantly better (the external styling isn't a big enough reason).

Thanks
Mike

Mirrorlink has been on the MK3 Jazz since it was introduced. Unfortunately Honda insists on using an old version that seems incompatible with newer phones. If this is important to you, insist that the dealer demonstrates it with your phone.

Other people have observed that the very latest cars have a different design of the "sub-trunk" area (ie under the boot floor), which makes it impossible to carry even a space-saver spare wheel. It's not clear exactly when this design change happened. If you want to carry a spare, check that you can.

I may be confused about this but doesn't the so called Facelift have more important differences like the 1.5 non-Atkinson engine (instead of 1.3) and improved suspension and ride?

....or were these separate changes?

The 1.5 engine was only available on the short-lived Sport model. If the OP is looking at a used one of those then yes, that's a significant difference.

Just after a standard 1.3 thanks.

Are there any threads which carry photos of this sub-boot floor change? What's taking up the space?!

Hello, there are indeed some changes.

- reinforced car body
- different shape of the black trim what is left and right from windshield to reduce wind noise
- better soundproofing (2mm layer -> 3mm layer)
- front bumper has a different shaped (smaller) under-spoiler
- [not sure] different angle of (at least one) pedal (don't know which one it may be)
- [not sure] improved steering and suspension
- [not sure] some engine modifications

I got my information from this japenese brochure. I do not speak japanese, so I can only guess some of the changes, which I claimed with [not sure]. Sorry for my bad english, I am from Germany.

As Gerred is looking at an 18 plate car or earlier, the change to the sub-boot space won't be an issue.

Hi, it's a 2018 facelift that I'm looking at, as well as a 2017 non-facelift, so I'm curious about the underboot difference.

Sorry Mikeysoft, I mixed up the name.  As I understand it, the under boot change has appeared during 2019, so I don't think it was part of the 2018 facelift.  Presumably it's standard in 2020 models.

Ha, that's quite funny, so there's in effect two variants of the 2018 facelift model!

New VED rates applied from 1st April 2017 so some 17 plates will qualify for cheap rates.
