Hose pipe ban
« on: August 12, 2022, 04:53:54 PM »
When the hose pipe ban starts will I be able to use a hose pipe to fill a watering can?  My back garden is tiered with large pots on the top tier.  Perhaps i'll get clarification on the water authority website once the ban comes into force.

That is exactly what I do.  After all, there would be nothing stopping you fitting a permanent standpipe on the top tier of your garden.  What is the difference?

I don't see why it should be a problem. They reckon that watering your garden with a watering can uses 70-90% less water than a hose.

That's what I do in South Yorkshire. I have two watering cans, while one is filling from the hosepipe I am watering the garden with the other one, then swap over. Apparently you can use a hosepipe if you are watering vegetables.
