Crosstar Dead in UK?
« on: July 13, 2022, 10:54:35 AM »
I see that the Jazz Crosstar is no longer available on the UK Honda website. Only SE, SR, EX and EX Style trims are listed.

It's the same story in other European markets too. Do you think it's down to popularity (or lack of) for the Crosstar? Or simply that, for supplier parts, it's easier to manage inventory for the ordinary version only i.e. bumpers, wheel arch trim, two-tone roof etc. are all different for the Crosstar...

Anyway, seems a shame for it to bite the dust so early. I guess once dealer stock has dried up in UK that's it!

Could be that for some markets they have decided the Crosstar is  competing with the HR-v in a  Jazz based crossover  role  . Also with a chip shortage they will  use them for  models that give most profit such as the Jazz (especially in higher  trim levels,)    or the HRV, rather than  the crosstar where producing unique body parts in small numbers may mean a smaller profit margin per vehicle.

On the European mainland (examples Germany, Holland, Poland) the Crosstar is still very alive  :D :

Not available in Hungary anymore Jazzik. I have only ever seen 1 Crosstar to date here. And it seems I have the other one! I like driving a very rare car !

Honda chat gave the cryptic reply:

"Currently, the Jazz Crosstar model is not available to be configured on the website, however, this might be added back in the near future. "

Might be...

I guess it is strange times with chip shortages and general supply side problems. I can’t believe that the minor, mostly trim differences between Crosstar and EX would be an influencer on production choices. More likely as per an earlier post, if you want an SUV appearance they want to push you towards the even more expensive HR-V in its lower trim level.
I never thought Honda marketed the Crosstar properly in the U.K. , Toyota made a much clearer definition between the Yaris and Yaris Cross.

I saw two brand new (no numberplates) blue Crosstars at my dealer a couple of days ago. However, they might have been ordered several months ago.

The Crosstar is still for sale in New Zealand
However this is a 100% internal combustion (non-hybrid) version,

The current car market makes no sense at all, in a normal market, the owner would be looking at 30% depreciation from list.

Over list was always the preserve of niche new to market cars for a very short period. iirc the mk1 Audi TT was an example. You'd never come across it on a main stream car. Strange times.

I've yet to see a Crosstar on the road, but many new Jazz around town. The comfort leves sound light years ahead of my old mk2, and the mpg figures owners report are outstanding!

Just for fun I valued my HR-V HEV on the Autotrader website and It is apparently worth over £1k MORE than I paid for it at 6 months old and 2,800 miles.

So you made a good investment... I think everyone should buy as many new Hondas as possible to cope with inflation... :P
