VSA warning light
« on: April 09, 2020, 03:28:53 PM »
Hello all Jazz owners. I'm new here so please be gentle.
My 2015 Jazz shows the VSA warning light and the "check system" message.
I've checked the switch and that checks ok.
My OBD2 fault code reader is only a basic one and doesn't cover ABS etc so I can't find a fault code.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Is it worth buying a more sophisticated OBD2 reader?
Would a local i.e. non-Honda garage be able to di,agnose it and fix it?

Also a  question on the CVT. Does this year's model have a torque converter or a clutch in the CVT transmission?

At 5 years old and 40k plus miles, am I about to start hitting lots of problems? Already had to replace an injector.

Thanks all.

The torque converter clutch was introduced at the early 2011 facelift when the CVT was re-introduced.

Hi , Had this on mine when i changed the air filter and forgot to put the cable fitting back. put it back straight away but stayed on for days then it started working again. Maybe have a look at air filter or cable connection.

Thanks Henryge,
I would have disturbed this wiring when I did the injectors but that was a few weeks ago. The VSA light came on last week but then cleared itself, only to reappear yesterday.
Too many damned bells and whistles these days!

It SEEMS to have been caused by the brake switch having pitted contacts. I say "seem" because only time will tell if I've cured it.
Thanks to a link on here I removed the brake switch, cleaned the contacts with fine garnet paper and refitted to the correct clearance.
Light has now gone off and stayed off(so far).
Worth considering as opposed to the  Google answer that it must be the ABS modulator at fault.
Cost of a new brake switch varies from £28 down to £13, although Honda probably charge half the national debt!
Acura service bulletin 11-014 covers it.
I'll let you know if it cures it long-term.
Stay safe.

Two weeks on and no repeat of the VSA light so I think problem solved. May still buy a new switch because I don't know how long the polished contacts will last.

Thanks for the update. Useful to know the repair worked should anyone else suffer similar symptoms.

Fingers crossed the lamp stays off.

Personally, I would probably hold off replacing the switch for a couple of months just to make sure it doesn't re-occur. Then get a new one.
