Lovely little car, with a great MOT history. I have only experience of my 1.2 Jazz but I have no qualms over the engine size whatsoever.
The 1.2 i-VTEC is 1198cc and 89 bhp and the 1.4 i-VTEC is only 1339cc and 98 bhp, so not a huge difference. Calling it a 1.4 is really a bit cheating as it is just over 1.3.

I go to the South of France once or twice a year about usually around 1500 miles return. No qualms about it at all. Mines a 1.2i-vtec. Done this for 4 years so far and not a problem.
I use mine for work as well and go to Manchester, York, Liverpool and of course london and South East. That's apart from holidays with the grandkids and I live in Gloucestershire. Basically I insure for about 20,000 a year because until late i was doing that. the work millage has currently cut down but about to shoot up again.

As long as you are happy that it doesn't have air con.

I miss my air con after my Volvo but I wouldn't let it put me off buying the right car. One advantage of the one you are looking at is it has steel wheels. with cheaper tyres and less exposure of the brake discs. But only you can decide.

Fantastic! I promised my girlfriend that the next car I bought would be capable of a trip to France : )

Thanks - I did notice that, it's a bit disappointing, but I'm not sure I can afford to be so fussy. As long as the windows wind down that's what I'm used to from my old car  :D

I wouldn't miss it because I didn't have it - but that said it seems almost like a minimum requirement these days. I think I'll go and check it out though as mileage it very good and the history.

Interesting comment about the wheels, a few I've seen have had really poor looking wheels, some badly painted to try and conceal. Are these cars more prone to rust I wonder?

Bugger! It's been sold. I'm having terrible luck at the moment!

Other than the S, models of the Jazz come with Alloys. If the car has plastic wheel trims it has steel wheels. Jazz steel wheels are no more prone to rust than any other make, and I have never heard of a car failing an MOT for rusty wheels! Steel wheels can be restored, the same as alloys, but it is not much cheaper than replacing them altogether. A wire brush and a coat of Hammerite is the usual remedy, if you bother at all.

That's a shame but this one further down looks like a gem.

Judging by its MOT history, it has been used gently for the past few years.

Alloys look nice, but they're nothing but trouble as a car ages.

Thanks Richard! I've been to a few dealers in the last month and have had some horrible/hilarious experiences! I'm extremely nervous about buying from one to be honest. I'd like to buy direct from a friendly Jazz owner.

That said, your link looks good! Let me check it out.

I completely agree and a few dents and scratches wouldn't bother me either. I was just surprised that the three Jazz I saw all seemed to suffer badly on the wheels in a way that I've not seen on other cars that I've owned.

So non-alloys and no air-conditioning. Or rusty alloys and air-conditioning! Hmmmm! : )
