Brilliant. Reminds me of the two Irishmen testing the indicators prior to an MOT. "Yes they're working. No they're not. Yes they're working. No they're not................."

Hahaha, a very well known story :)
But that's not what happened here, I kid you not...
It is Monday of course...maybe that has something to do with it? ;)
I thought all of my headaches about electronic problems were gone the moment when I sold all my French cars...

Sometimes fitting LED bulbs to indicators can cause problems - the ones with built in resistors (normally called CANBUS compatible ) are needed to fool the flasher relay that enough amps are being drawn to make it work properly - many flasher relays are still the 'thermal' type that need the correct current drawn by bulbs to make them flash,  they are useful because if you lose an indicator bulb they flash faster and alert you before you have an accident because you think you are indicating to turn but the bulb is blown.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I bought this car in September this year and I haven't refitted the bulbs.
Maybe the previous owner then?
I've never had this problem either!

I'm doubting I will ever ask a serious question again on this forum... :P

Okay, wait...
So I just drove home from work and half way had to do a little stop.
Got back in the car, started it, indicators worked fine.
Stopped at a red light, turned on the indicator, the indicator light didn't flash, but stayed on.
Turned the ignition off and started the car again, then it worked fine again for the remainder of my travel.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

The relay is mechanical, and can stick. The next time it does it, just give the instrument binnacle a thump and see if it starts to work.
As I said earlier, according to the Haynes manual, the indicator lights come off the instrument cluster. (A5 and A6. Wiring diagram page 12-29)

Do you mean the instrument panel in the middle or on the dashboard with the meters?

I believe the relay is on the circuit board behind the dashboard (same one as the instruments and warning lights are on), so I would just thump the top of the binnacle, behind the steering wheel.

Thanks!
I will try that next time and let you know if it has any effect.

I would order a new relay and replace the existing one. That's got to be the easiest and cheapest option.

If it is mounted on the instrument PCB then replacing it may not be easy. It could be soldered to the board and access is not that simple. I may be wrong in my assumption of its location. It is just my best guess going by the schematics.

Changing the relais is simple if it's a loose unit.
If someone can tell me where the thing is located, that would be a great help.
If it is indeed mounted behind the instrument panel, then it's gonna be something that's hard to do...
