Extending maintenance and warranty
« on: October 16, 2023, 11:35:31 AM »
My HR-V is just coming up to 5 years old and I am about to book it in for it's yearly maintenance.  In the past I have traded in for a new car, usually after 3 years but this time, as I have now retired, I decided to keep the car.

Is it worth extending the maintenance for another one, two or three years?

Is it worth taking out an extended warranty?

Does anyone have any experience of either of the above?

Thanks in advance

To update:

I took out a 3 year extended guarantee for £985.00 and a 3 year service plan for £1,143.00.

The service manager told me that they had sold numerous packages like this to people who were not in a position to pay the price of a new car.

He agreed with me that they would likely be in a bad place this coming year as they were unlikely to sell the percentage of EV stipulated by the government and would therefore face fines.  He also could not understand why Honda had not introduced a Jazz size cheaper EV.
