Dashboard switch backlights - how to change
« on: November 20, 2012, 11:22:24 AM »
I have a 2009 GE 1.4EX. I am sure the temperature control / AC / Mode buttons used to be backlit when I put my headlights on at night?
All my other dashboard and switch backlights are working fine. Can someone check there's and tell me if theirs comes on please?

You can guess my next question will be how on earth to find a blown bulb buried in the depths of a Jazz GE dash...!  ::)

Thanks for checking.

Can I access behind the dashboard from a panel in the fascia? Does the vertical panel between the radio and power outlet pop out? I don't want to heave on it in case I break clips and fittings.

Did you get the LED changed?

Is it an easy job?

It can be done, mine had gone. You actually have to buy tiny bulbs with exposed wires and install it. I took photos of it but did not post as i wasn't sure. Anyway... you need to take the radio out first and pop off the panels underneath to make it easier. I will try to relocate my photos, if I find I will post direct or load here.
I just popped into my shed and located the packet of bulbs I bought I have 2 packets that are possible but I am sure it is the smaller bulb,  called T1, mine are 12v 60mA  (RS stock 587-670). I forgot whether I had to solder the flying leads to PCB or just trap them in there holder.
Going to look for pictures......

I found the photos:-
Argh! they are all 3 and 4megs each. Limit is 2meg. How can I scale then down? I have Windows 10, after a free easy program. My much older software no longer works.
I found it in photo gallery in windows 10.

I use this program to resize my photos https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/. You will probably find that the medium setting is OK unless there is a lot of detail that people need to see.

Thanks for the link. I tried that and it said it only works with older Windows SP2.  (program dated 2012)

Okay! Thanks anyway. Still getting used to Windows 10. I don't get enough time on it to explore and our broadband speed is very restrictive, for example downloading map updates for my igo 8 (less than 1Gb) takes 15 hours and times out while updating or downloading.

I am not trying teach GSX600FMAN how to suck eggs and absolutely nothing to do with dashboard lights.
BROADBAND SPEED. I don't know where you live but I suspect in the country given your broadband speed.
I live in village and we are some 6 miles from the exchange. When I first went to BT I was told that due to the distance from the exchange my speed would be low. Then the school up the road went on line ( they are just about the limit of our exchange coverage) and downloads were a tad slow, to the point of stopping. I am afraid I moaned for a year at BT and eventually they admitted my contractual broadband speed was 256K.  I even got an E mail to say my package was mis sold. So when fibre optic came along they tried to get me to sign up but as I do not use this infernal machine for sport/games/films etc and having been told I need about 3MBs for what I want, I politely told them no go. They claimed that they could do nothing if I didn't go for Infinity. So I persisted. I pointed out that I had been a BT customer here for some 22 yrs and before elsewhere I felt that they were treating me shabbily. A lot of tooin and froing between yours truly and India ( why can't we have a British call centre) and BT bless their cotton socks have come up with a really good deal. I can't say I am that impressed but at least my family videos don't stutter and play from start to finish without hesitation. If you are with BT have a moan but don't give in at the first hurdle, it is obvious that the Broadband companies are a little worried about customers. I wont tell you what I get from BT for the next year as that would be unfair but I will say that I now pay less than I did before and I have Infinity. As far as I am concerned Infinity is in my case, is a sledgehammer to crack a nut BUT it is working. Good luck.

Still off subject.... Yes we live in a village. But Fibre has been brought to a cabinet about 100metres away and now have 12 days to wait to get much faster speeds with 'offer/deal'
