We had one of the 1st 2002 Sport models and when sold 3 years later it had done 48k only costs replacement tyres - Michelin Energy and Yes we did get the values done by a local garage. Honda dealers in NW england good at selling poor appreciaition of customer service and high labour charges - always get a written quote before releasing your car for service.
Later models have a better ride 2006 onwards bur t still harsh when compared to Fords/Skoda similar models. Low running costs go someway to offsett this weakness.
We intend to drive the new 2009 model in acouple of weeks if Ok will try to import CVT version if no go then will move away from Honda to another manufacturer.
