Maximal sleeping area?
« on: October 10, 2021, 03:54:41 PM »
Hello,

Can you please tell me,

What is the dimension of the flat floor? (including the "open air" area, from the rear seat edge, to the back of the front seat).

With the front seat in the max position forward in the rails,(front seat backrest inclined forward) closer to the dashboard, from the edge of the interior trunk?

PS: Anyone remove from the rail screws the front seat, and position it even closer to the dashboard, seating area of the front seat tucked under the dashboard, if is a physical possibility? (for GD model, 2003 is ok to do this trick).
The total length with this configuration, for sleeping?

Any pictures?

Thank you.

From the back end of the centre console to the "edge of the interior trunk" it is 1.50m.

By pushing the passenger seat forward and tipping it forwards, you can extend the length to about 1.80 metres if you sleep “sloightly on the huh” as they say in Suffolk, I.e. at an angle of about 15 degrees.  And you’ld have to sleep alone!

As part for the 'magic seat' feature, are you aware you can actually recline the passenger seat over the top of the rear seats to effectively increase the area on the passenger side to the dash?

Around 17 sec in this video:

I've completely removed my rear seats, making a lovely compact vehicle that I use for carrying stuff.

Guys, I do have a question though . . . . .   will I have to put them back in for the MOT?
The seatbelts have been removed also.

I'm not an mot tester but anyone can view the testers manual on line.

Sections 7.1.1  says testers do not need to inspect seatbelts with no corresponding seat,  and section 7.1.2 says they do not need to inspect buckles and stalks with no corresponding seat belt.

From this I would say the absence of seats will not affect the mot, and you can leave their belts  in place. .

Probably better to remind the tester of this before the test.
