Tune-service additive
« on: December 19, 2018, 03:53:08 PM »
I have just booked my third annual service (30,000 miles) and MOT on a service plan, and in a moment of madness I have agreed to pay an additional £35 for some treatment which is supposed to clean the engine and improve engine efficiency.  Does anyone have any experience of this - it's called Tunap Microflex cleaning system?

That's the best part of the cost of a tank of fuel :o.  It better be good!

Yes, I spend about £1100 a year on fuel, so I need a 3% improvement to justify the suggested annual treatment.  Unlikely I think!

It is £20 on Amazon. I suspect it is no better than any other petrol injector cleaner. I would only use a cleaner if the car was running rough, and even then an Italian tune up would probably work. My car gets one of them most weeks anyway.

Just ask the dealership to put in writing the benefit & improvement they guarantee , if not wait until Wilco have a Redex offer in New Year then fill your Jazz with Shell V Power

There are two additives in this package- Tunap 974 and 157.  No dealer guarantees - it's up to me to assess any benefit before falling for it again!

Our Honda dealership tends to offer a "fuel flush" treatment as a freebie for booking a service early with them. They say it's worth £14.40 but I've no idea what it is.

I hate dealers doing this wort of thing - our's offers "the premium upgrade" which I think is simply a spare 500mls of top-up oil and they charge about £20 for it.

Say 'no' and the service advisor starts being all grumpy!  Not a great way to build a relationship.
