CVT is a bit like marmite .... I have driven both conventional auto and CVT ( mainly because manual boxes were a rarity in the countries we lived in ) on return to UK both my wife and myself had no problem going back to manual boxes. If i had physical problems I would have no problem with a CVT. I prefer simple cars, the simpler the better for me, I hate all the gimmicks on the latest cars, auto lights, auto wipers, auto dip, speed sign recognition, stop-start, auto brake etc etc just leave me cold, and IMHO reduce driver attention to the road ahead.
Strange thing is ( but not strange to some ) is that despite the figures about CVT being marginally better on mpg than manual ) the record breaking Jazz ( lands end to John o groats on one tank of fuel ) was a manual car.
