Just for information, I have a 2012 model Jazz that suffered two cracks to the front windscreen caused by airborne stones on 16th May this year. I reported this to my insurer and Autoglass was tasked with replacing it, with a fitting booked for the following Wednesday (23rd May).
On 23rd May I received a text message stating that the glass wasn't held in stock and the fitting appointment was cancelled. Since then, I've made two calls to Autoglass to chase this up, as no further fitting appointment has been offered.
On both occasions I have been told that the glass has been ordered and that it's in transit to Autoglass. As I write, on 7th June - 15 days after I requested a replacement windscreen - still nothing.
I'm not writing this to complain about anything. I'm lucky enough that the car is driveable and safe. It's just a heads-up to anyone who may need a similar replacement, that some considerable delay may occur if Autoglass is the company your insurer uses.
I'm wondering if the delay is being caused by the glass having to be shipped from Japan.
Has anyone else had an issue with glass replacement?
