Title: Build quality
Post by: guest5079 on January 11, 2018, 02:26:35 PM
Today as the result yet again of potholes, I removed the larger of the rear seats to find a rattle that appeared to come from the interior of the seat. One of the 'hinges' that attach the seat to the floor was a little slack, so I dismantled it. What surprised me was that where I thought a pin just went through a stamped out hole in the hinge, the bearing surfaces were in fact fitted with little phospher bronze bearings. Is this normal on modern cars? Usually it is just a drilled out hole and a roll pin pushed in.
I was able to look at the build quality of the seat and it's components and was impressed. I haven't found the cause of the rattle. Tomorrow it gets run so we will see.
