Title: Clicking noises from rear brakes, new Ex CVT
Post by: Kenneve on May 14, 2011, 02:47:45 PM
Recently noticed a loud click sound from the rear brakes, when braking from forward/reverse and vice versa.
I presume it is the brakes pads moving radially, and taking up the play, within their location slots in the calipers, with the change of direction.
The vehicle is 3 weeks old. Should I be concerned?

Any problems just take it back to the dealer. That's what the warranty is for.

JazzyB - you are absolutely correct of course.
However I believe, forewarned is forearmed! I simply raised this thread to see if anyone else has experienced the condition, surely one of the purposes of the forum.
I will of course be taking the car back to my dealer for inspection at the earliest opportunity.

Claymore - Thanks for your interest.

The rear brakes are disc brakes.

Do we take it from the lack of knowledgable response that this is unheard of?

I get this on mine, but mine's a 2005... When I change from forwards to backwards I get a loud click or two from rear left wheel. I've put this down to a wheel bearing as I also have bearing rumble - not bad enough yet to detect play in a wheel but I wondered if that was the wheel with the problem.

However I see yours is a new one, so surely cannot be a bearing, else maybe I've misdiagnosed mine.
