as only 1 race is to be FTA live for UK I'll no longer follow F1 so closely --- If I can't see Spa-Francorchamps & Monza live FTA then why bother with F1? New rights owners are killing F1 too

I have to agree. I was an avid follower, but now I record the highlights and if I hear the result before getting round to watching them (more often than not), I just scrub them.

Watch BSB, WSB and MotoGP,  makes F1 and Fe look like a school sports day egg and spoon race...

FormulaE and FI just show how boring the future will be with electric cars,  no different engine makers, no exciting  sounds, just the boring whirr of the same electric motors and batteries fitted to cars with different names on them...borrrring..

I've watched a couple but it is not for me. Maybe once they get to real tracks and not just Scalextric tracks. I don't have a lot of time for street circuits at the best of times - unless it's Monaco!

Sad to see reports of the death of Charlie Whiting, who suffered a pulmonary embolism while in Melbourne for this weekends race. He was only 66.

The F1 results so far suggest that while the Red Bull + Honda engine isn't quite a match for Mercedes or Ferrari it's now the best of the others.  And who knows (except Red Bull and Honda) what further tweaks are in the pipeline.

and a 4th in China in front of Ferrari - and Gasly in 6th and posted fastest lap.... Mclaren 14th and 18th (DNF)

not too shady IMHO,  they are in contention at last

Maybe this shows that Mclaren could have been the problem...

Due to the limited interest here on F1, I'll only be added race results from now on if either a Red Bull or Toro Rosso driver gets on the podium.

Azerbaijan F1

Gasly set fastest lap in qualifying, but got a penalty because he did not go to weighbridge he will start from pit lane. Verstappen set second fastest lap.

Beginning to look like McLaren was the problem.........

Honda have an upgraded engine package for this race. I was introduced to improve reliability after Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat retired at the last race in China, but it also brings a slight improvement in performance.

Engines seemed to perform well today, with Gasly retiring with a driveshaft failure and Kvyat after tyre problems and a shunt.

Monaco GP

Red Bull Max Verstappen gives Hamilton a hard time and is on his rear bumper for most of the race, finishes within fractions of a second of winner Hamilton but  a 5 second time penalty incurred earlier in the race for an unsafe release in pit lane saw him involved in incident with Bottas took him back to 4th place, Red Bull Gasly finished 5th despite being moved back on the grid for allegedly impeding Crosjean in practice,  this is getting exciting. Looks like Red Bull / Honda collaboration is a winner - eat your heart out McLaren.

While I applaud  Big H winning a race.
Surely the record of 300 GP wins since they started racing in 1959 at the TT races.
Note this month was the 60th anniversary.

Good luck Honda.

Very impressed with Honda engine showing at Austria. The track doesn't suit Mercedes, however, but hopefully it is the sign of a renaissance after the disastrous pairing with McLaren.

I know that Honda were not happy with McLaren as they expected Honda to cram a powerplant into existing chassis and did not understand 'partnership' and wanted to control everything.  Seems like Red Bull were much more willing to collaborate equally and change the chassis to allow proper cooling and a bit of room.  It is McLarens loss and Red Bull gain...  To be fair Verstappen has come close to podium in a few races and was robbed a couple of times by penalties.

Hamilton said before start of 2019 season that Honda / Red Bull were going to make a big impression this year.

Honda 1-2 in Brazil with Verstappen taking the win and Gasly - in a dramatic wheel-to-wheel battle with Hamilton - bagged his first F1 podium just months after being demoted to the B team.

Verstappen 3rd in drivers championship and red Bull / Honda 3rd in constructors - Red bull have more points this year with Honda than last year with Renault - and Maclaren wishing they had stuck with Honda and co-operated a bit more instead of trying to dictate and control everything....

Australian gran prix 2020 cancelled, the Mexican Rally is still going ahead at the moment.
Rally highlights are on ITV4 on Tuesday night at 10:30 (in the UK), it's also on BT sport if you have it over the weekend.
