1.4 CVT - New to Hondas, not to CVTs
« on: April 12, 2014, 08:28:06 PM »
Hi all,

Just purchased the other day a March 06 registered Jazz as a car for the wife + 2 infants. The Jazz was chosen for reliability, rear doors, magic seats, boot big enough for duo pram and auto for driving ease. It's the newest and youngest car I've been in ownership of and plan to do my own maintenance and repairs. First of which is to change/flush the transmission oil...

You must tell us how you find the Honda CVT compared to other cars.  I have only driven a Nissan Murano 4 x 4 with CVT

Thanks for the welcome.

Initially impressions are good, however this is my CVT background:

Driven (ridden):
1997 Nissan K11 Micra CVT (1.0L 5dr Shape) - 72h RAC courtesy car with 112 miles on clock, returned with 1600+
2000 Italject D50 Dragster moped.

Own or owned:
1973 DAF 66SL saloon
1972 DAF 44 estate
1978 Volvo 343DL CVT
1982 Volvo 343DL CVT
1987 Volvo 340DL CVT
1989 Volvo 340DL CVT

So I've not got much to compare it against in the steel push-belt stakes.  ;)

My granddad did have a 1989 Ford Fiesta Festival CVT, but he only kept it 2 years which was unusual for him. I think he had a few issues with it. From my memory of the Micra, it was good new and it also didn't creep.
