Don't know too much about this Dave but a pal of mine had a MK1 with this issue and a fluid change worked wonders on his.

At £17, I'd certainly give it a try. I spend that on cat food in a week!

There's this old thread about abusing the gearbox between the two fluid changes http://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=94.msg20148#msg20148 to help shift the accumulated crud this might provide the required improvement but it's possible that the additive would also help. Then make sure that genuine Honda CVT fluid is used to refill the gearbox.  If you conclude that a new clutch is needed then look for specialist gearbox repairers.

That's a must. My local garage quoted £1100 to have the bearings in my manual gearbox replaced. A gearbox specialist quoted £324. One guess who got the job.

Excellent result, and not too bad a price.
