No jack?
« on: March 14, 2021, 11:46:27 AM »
Morning all

I've now taken delivery of my EX and am well pleased. One thing however - there's no jack.  I was expecting no spare wheel but no jack?  The dealer says no spare = no jack either even tho' there's a cut out for one in the tray.

Is it me? ::)

I think Honda stopped supplying a jack towards the end unless you a purchased a spare wheel.

Honda stopped supplying the Civic jack and tools with the MY13 model.

They still advised you rotate the wheels around though, even though you now have no means of lifting the car.

I've never been one to swap wheels round anyway.
Let's be careful out there !

My current Jazz had no spare wheel and no jacking kit only a gunge repair kit. The car's instruction book entry for using the gunge kit made no mention of jacking the car while using it. I thought that turning the wheel would have been necessary to spread the gunge about. The instructions in the gunge kit told you to jack the car up so that you could rotate the wheel and it would be easier to inflate the tyre again rather than having to lift the weight of the car as well. I mentioned this to the Honda dealer I bought the car from and I was given one on the spot.

No jack with my 2018 SE, just the gunge. I've fitted it out with a spacesaver spare and jack etc, but it's a bit of a faff.
Jacks are not expensive (something like  https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/1-tonne-scissor-jack/ ) but check the compatibility of the lifting pad/slot with the sill seam.

Thanks all.  I predict a scrappy visit once they're open! ;D
