P0203 Honda Jazz
« on: August 09, 2024, 01:42:59 PM »
Hi All,

I currently own a Honda Jazz 2012 model year, recently it started to misfire, and the engine management light came on. I did a diagnostic scan and found that injector 3 was the cause.

I checked the following:

Checked voltage supply down to injector 3, found 12 volts on pin 1
Continuity test done from pin 1 to ECU plug pin and had good continuity.
Carried a load test on pin 1 to the ECU plug. (when disconnected from ecu) good readings.
Did an ohms test on the injector 3 and found a reading 0f 6.5ohms
Replaced injector number 3 with a new one. (new injector ohm reading 10.5)
Put everything back together still misfiring on injector number 3.
ECU has been sent away and was repaired, according to fault code. But still misfires!

Could anyone please help me and put me in the right direction have i missed anything out?

Just had a quick look at
Pin1 should be a yellow wire with supply volts, pin 2 should be the blue (cyl3 ?) wire down to the ECU (PCM call it whatever) which I assume switches the injector down to ground (this is the usual arrangement anyway).
Have you checked what volts you see at pin1 and pin2 while the engine is running? pin1 I'd expect a steady (more or less) battery volts, pin2 should indicate a lower reading as it is switched part time to ground, at least it shouldn't be as high as pin1 I'd guess. Sometimes an analogue voltmeter can be more useful for this than a DVM since the moving pointer evens out the fluctuation.
You could try a test lamp in the injector socket, just be careful on rating so as not to risk overloading the switching (e.g. a 5W lamp should be around 25 Ohms when hot but will be single figure Ohms when cold, be careful, something even lower rating might be advisable).

Did you ever resolve this? I'm having the same issue (2013 Jazz). Had ECU reapaired which fixed the issue for a short period, but the re occurred. Not replaced the injector as I was told resistance seemed OK by my mechanic, but having remeasured myself it seems low (8.8 ohms compared to 11.5 on tbe good injectors).

If the resistance is too low it will fry am transistor on the circuit board, so I would replace the injector asap

And the new injector is original OEM part?

£320 to be exact, but with the labour costs and 4 new NGK plugs £700, still apart from normal yearly services and a new battery this has been the only big bill in my 9 years of ownership .

That's the going rate for a genuine injector.  As far as I can see, the only options are genuine, or a UK refurbished one for about £70.  I wouldn't run the risk of a cheap chinese reproduction, because if it fails with an open circuit it will blow a transistor on the ECU.
