Aha!
« on: April 11, 2019, 09:32:38 PM »
Hi

I just bought a 2016 Honda Jazz as explained in my other post:
https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=11033.0

I just realised I have some other questions about the stereo (CD/DAB etc).

I managed to connect to it via Bluetooth on my phone and make a phone call.

Do I need to get any codes for this CD radio from the garage? Worried there may be stuff that gets locked. Garage says it's fine but want to double check.

Can I do satnav on it?

I notice this screen (see attachment) how would I log in? Why would I log in?

If I do a factory reset on the screen will I lose anything important?

Any other gotchas?

Thanks and appreciated!

Your dealer is correct. The anti-theft radio codes are stored in the engine management computer so the radio unit will only work in your car, you do not need separate codes.

If you've bought the Navi version, then it has satnav built in. If not, then others have reported that it is possible to install 3rd party nav apps but this requires hacking the unit to ensure it stays on when driving. Search the forum for instructions.

You can't reset just the screen, you have to reset the whole unit (which is basically an Android tablet). But why would you want to ? You will certainly lose all the radio presets, any customisation settings, phone book, wi-fi, etc so will have to be prepared to add all that stuff back in.

^^
Thanks for your help.

I want to reset it as I'm the new owner of the car I just bought and I want to get rid of the other users data and start fresh.

How do I know if I have the Navi version?
I assume updating the Android OS is pretty straightforward.

Thx.

It should be obvious, it’s usually part of the model name of the car, eg something like “Jazz EX Navi”. Or see if you have any Nav buttons on the screen. Extensive instructions in the handbook.

Wrong assumption, I’m afraid. Honda use a really old version of Android (from memory, I think it’s Android 4.0.4) and it’s not possible to improve on that. There are various software builds, and the best person to do that is your dealer. I think others might have been able to do it themselves, but it’s not straightforward.
