Title: Driveshaft
Post by: 123Drive! on October 15, 2020, 04:30:50 PM
After the I-Shift problem now the nearside drive shaft is rusted and snapped! Another £260! Had the car originally booked for service and MOT next Wednesday... typical!

Is that the splines gone in the hub, or the actual driveshaft tube? :o

I think the tube. The mechanic sent me a video and it was hanging down. He said many Honda have this problem.

I don't think I've ever seen that before, there can't be much meat on them for corrosion to snap it!

I enclose a photo. Painful month for the Jazz this month...£500 new clutch and actuator repair. £260 new drive shaft. £330 full service (iridium spark plugs) rear brake pads and MOT! So much so for not using it much during lockdown...now pay back time. Plus new timing belt water pump , fan belt, door handle and adjust handbrake tomorrow for my Ibiza! Spent over £2.5 k on the cars including some bodywork repairs so far this year!!!

Wow, how many miles has it done?? My 2010 I-shift has 65k on it and all i've done in 6 years is new tyres/ oil and filters!!
Had an 'advisory' on last MOT for brake pads, but on inspection there was plenty of meat left. These are original from new.

Car has done 103000miles. Your one still a baby so don't worry. The I-Shift actuator on mine went at 82k and then Clutch and actuator again went 102500. Hopefully you will be driving another car by then. My old Civic was 17 yrs old and never had this problem. I think the bad potholes and humps doesn't help. Have you changed your Iridium spark plugs yet? Expensive they are.

I checked them a year back, they looked good. Won't bother unless i detect a problem (misfire etc)
