Check Engine light, limp mode and revving on its own...
« on: October 15, 2020, 04:54:10 PM »
Hi all,

New to the forum, having some problems with our 2008 Jazz (1.4 manual, 125k miles, owned for 2 years, FSH). The check engine light is on, the car has a rough idle (so rough it's like someone is revving the engine) and the last time I took it out it went into limp mode. I've cleaned the EGR valve (and replaced the gasket that sits between it and the engine block) and changed the spark plugs (all 8), but this has made no difference to the problem. Is there anything else I could try before I admit defeat and take it into my local Honda garage for a diagnosis?

Thanks in advance  :D

Check for an air leak at the pipework around the manifold. A perished or split rubber hose.

My thoughts too, check all the manifold pipework, especially the vacuum pipework to the brake servo.
