That is what I thought, but everything I read says 16 valves. That is going to different sites, but perhaps they are all quoting the same erroneous source. I can find nothing definitive from Honda themselves, and the Haynes manual doesn't say. I am not taking the head off to have a look!  ;D

Found this from a different source:

Honda L12A-series
Engine type: spark-ignition 4-stroke
Fuel type: petrol (gasoline)
Fuel system: indirect injection
Charge system: naturally aspirated
Valves per cylinder: 2
Additional features:
PGM-FI; SOHC; i-DSi; 2 spark plugs per cylinder

Emission control: 3-way catalyst, Lambda-Sensor
Emission standard: Euro 3

Cylinders alignment: Line 4
Displacement: 1244 cm3 / 75.8 cui
Bore: 73 mm / 2.87 in
Stroke: 74.3 mm / 2.93 in
Compression ratio: 10.8 : 1
Horsepower net: 57 kW / 78 PS / 76 hp (ECE)/ 5700
Torque net: 110 Nm / 81 ft-lb/ 2800

It would appear than every other source I have found harks back to Wikipedia, and as usual their data is wrong.

Yep, you sure do have 8 plugs - plenty of info on this forum about changing plugs, especially the rear ones which are a bit trickier than the front ones. Use the search function and 'rear plugs' or spark plug or similar.

When you say 2008 are you referring to a GD (Mk 1) or a GE (Mk 2)? This part of the VIN number will tell you: JHMGD57106S******
Rear plugs on the Mk 1 are easy enough to do. The Mk 2 is a different kettle of fish, I believe.

According to the VIN check it's a GE but did see in the handbook it had 8 plugs and coil packs, lordy!
Have to say the handbook is great for showing how to go about things. Very helpful.

In 2008 it could be i-DSi (GD) or i-VTEC (GE) - the GE was on sale in late 2008 (58 plate).

Has it got i-DSI or i-VTEC on the plastic engine cover ? (the first thing you see on top of engine when you open the bonnet).  i-VTEC only has 4 plugs, on the rear of engine, bit of a PITA to get to but this forum has plenty of info on getting to them.

I believe they continued to use the i-DSi (8 plug) engine in the Jazz Hybrid after 2008,  but pretty sure they did not make a 1.2 Hybrid.

There is useful youtube guide in thread link below to removing the bits to get to the plugs on i-VTEC (only 4 plugs, but fitted at the rear of engine).
