How can i tell what model of Jazz I have?
« on: June 13, 2018, 08:07:13 AM »
Hello

I have a 58 reg Honda Jazz and i'm not sure if the model is a mk1 (2002-2008) or a mk2 (2008-2015). Is there an easy way to tell?

Welcome, Lee. Your VIN number will tell you precisely what model you have. My VIN is JHMGD57106S21**** and the GD5 in the middle tells me it is a GD (Mk1) and the 5 tells me it is a 1.2. The J at the beginning means it was made in Japan. The VIN number is in the logbook (V5), but is easiest found at the base of the windscreen or on the car data plate, under the bonnet.

They also look quite different (to a Jazz owner).

Thanks Jocko

This is very helpful. I assume that the red car (with the 12 plate) is the MK2 and the blue one (with the 07 plate) is the MK1.

Also, I believe that I have located the VIN number. It begins with LUCGE38508....... and I found it on both at the bottom of the windscreen and on the data plate under the bonnet. Do you know if this indicates a MK1 or MK2?

A GE3 is a Mk 1. Made in China, with a 1.3 L L13A i-DSI engine. Be aware, the Dual Spark Ignition has 8 spark plugs and very often the rear ones get missed at a service (independent garages sometimes don't know they are there), so if you experience a misfire, or rough running, they are one of the first things to check.
Yours should look similar to the blue car, same as mine.

Thanks Jocko

That's the one. Looks like I definitely have a MK1! Thanks for all your help.

This means that I can now ask the main question I need to ask, i'll post it in a minute under a new thread.
