Title: Slightly dodgy situation
Post by: Goldfynche on November 19, 2018, 09:57:36 AM
Right outside my house, someone has parked a red Citroen Xsara Picasso. It now hasn't moved for over 2 months!
So yesterday, out of curiosity, I checked it's registration on the DVLC database. And surprise surprise! It comes up as a silver Nissan!
So what would be the best way to inform the appropriate authorities in a situation like this?

We had a damaged Astra left on my street for a few weeks. A note on the windscreen disappeared but got no response. Then one appeared from the local council vehicle recovery unit saying if it wasn't removed they'd tow it. A few days later it was gone.
So it may be worth contacting your council. Probably that could be done via their website.

OK. I've informed Police 101. I would have just called the council had it not been for the false license plate.
Just have to see what happens now.

Ok. The police eventually got back to me and in spite of my telling them about the number plate not agreeing with the DVLC database. They insisted that nothing was wrong and that I should just contact the council to have the vehicle removed.

In England the council put a 7 day notice on an abandoned car and tow it off after the 7 days if it's still there, don't know if it's the same in Scotland.

Can't imagine why the Police didn't at least take a look at it to make sure it's not a stolen vehicle, cutbacks probably, God bless the tories! The party of law & order...
