Title: Battery replacement
Post by: TonyO on March 13, 2024, 08:22:04 PM
I'm finding it difficult to source a replacement battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The genuine Honda battery is not that expensive from Cox Motorparts and next day delivery

I purchased my last Yuasa battery through my local motor factors. I rang three local places, and went with the best price, same day collection and simple diy replacement.

If you prefer to order online, both of these are well known retailers. https://www.tayna.co.uk/ https://www.bmstechnologies.co.uk/

i heared on the mk3 you have to program the computer to tell it that it has a replacement battery but i have no confirmation about that

Not true, just a normal swap out.

Fake.
Some other cars need this (some BMWs) if the replaced battery has different parameters, while Jazz is plug and play.

Search for past posts, this theme has already and deeply been discussed.
Admin could stick the discussion always on top of the forum.

I recently replaced my Battery (2019 Jazz) got it direct from Cox motor parts (OE Honda part) fitted with no bother at all. No reprogramming either. Plug and play as they say  :D

Thanks for the info. I've booked a free battery check. Only issue is stop/start not working. It displays battery symbol so will get it checked out.

That is not unusual. Mine's been doing that for 2+ years now. Car always starts, I ask them to check the battery at every service, no problems reported. If you can put up with the S/S not working, it's not a reason to buy a new battery.

Regarding stop start

A friend had a Civic and his stop start was random. He also had his battery checked on numerous occasions and proved to be OK.

What he found, purely by accident, was that if he started the car in a quick rotation of the key, 1, 2, starter, it would more than likely fail. If he turned the key to position 2 for a few seconds before firing the starter it worked far more than it didn't

What he thought was that when the 'whatever' was deciding on how healthy the battery was, when the starter motor was firing it was telling the 'whatever' that the battery had insufficient oomph. But allowing the 'whatever' to assess a battery not under strain often worked

Hope that makes sense
