Title: little red flashing light next to audio on/off button
Post by: guest7695 on May 18, 2018, 09:27:42 AM: Greetings all, a couple of questions from a new member and new Jazz SE owner.

There's a little red flashing light next to the audio on/off button at the top of the screen in my car. I've only just noticed it, and can't find anything about it in audio section of the manual. I think it only appears after I turn off the ignition. Is that the alarm or immobiliser or something else that I should be concerned about?

I've also just noticed that I can turn on the audio screen without the key in the ignition by pressing the audio on/off button. Is that normal as well?

Yes, that indicates the alarm &/or immobiliser are functioning (not sure it's possible to have one without the other ?). It's very visible at night as a warning to anyone of dubious intent to pass the car by.

Perfectly normal. It allows you to have the radio on with the ignition off, eg whilst waiting to meet someone.

I’m sorry I thought the flashing red light indicated if the dead lock is on

If you want to test it, open the bonnet and press lock button twice. Red light should not flash. Fully close bonnet and repeat, and light should start to flash

I have checked the book, it is the alarm set indicator. I can't find any reference to the red light on the Audio system.

On my car the red flashing light in the instrument cluster is the alarm set indicator. It also has a red flashing light on the audio system, I have no idea what it signifies and it is not mentioned in the user manual. My 2016 SE also had both lights.
