2008 Jazz 1.4i CVT - cats stolen, fixed & EML issues
« on: August 02, 2022, 02:35:14 PM »
Hi all

First post to these forums; but not a new forum user, I'm on a lot inc BMW & Pistonheads forums :)

Unfortunately the wifes Racing Jazz (2008 1.4i CVT) had the cat and sensors stolen a few weeks back

I've replaced the cat & B pipe section from the kit via RTG Group in Leyland as they're on our doorstep; both sensors are Bosch, but keeps coming up with an error and the EML light is constantly on!

After researching on Google I've come up with these 2 threads:

https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=11266.60

and

https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=11989.msg81384#msg81384

RTG cannot confirm or deny if the Bosch sensors are for a manual or CVT Jazz, all they can confirm is that they are correct for a 2008 Honda Jazz!

Now reading those threads, it seems there are differences between manual and CVT boxed Jazz cars, is that correct/still the consensus?

If so, these are the sensors found on eBay using the numbers on the 2nd thread linked above:

Rear: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174020445324?fits=Car+Make%3AHonda&hash=item28846d448c:g:CwEAAOSwOuNdcRqX

Front: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174020445370?fits=Car+Make%3AHonda&hash=item28846d44ba:g:VUsAAOSwi8NdcRqY

The Bosch sensors were c£55 each, so these others aren't that much more TBH and happy to buy them, if someone can confirm this will potentially fix the EML error on the dash

Or...

Is this an issue that I need an auto-sparky to look into (mechanicals I'm fine with, electrics I'm not)!

Thanks - Dan

All I can suggest is you have a look at the Autodoc website.

fwiw, if your bosch parts have the correct part number, is it possible they have been incorrectly wired if the original connector was damaged?  There may be hidden damage to the cabling perhaps?

https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=14547.0

fwiw, before Lings Honda took down their useful car parts web pages, I copied the details relevant to my 2007 GE3 cvt car, and equivalent manual model, in the event I may need to purchase replacements.

Lambda sensors for 2007 GE3 1.4 CVT:
36531-PWA-903 (PFKL539918) SENSOR, FR. OXYGEN
36532-PWA-G02 (PFKL540097) SENSOR, RR. OXYGEN

2007 GE3 1.4 5MT manual model lists:
36531-PWE-E01 (PFKL539919) SENSOR, FR. OXYGEN
36532-PWE-G01 (PFKL540098) SENSOR, RR. OXYGEN

As far as I can recall, 2008 models are all GE3 made in China.

As bill says above, first check that the wiring/connectors are not damaged, I suspect the scrotes simply rip the things out having chopped the pipework.
What are the actual fault codes?  Basic OBD readers will just give the system code, more capable readers will give a fault type (open circuit, short circuit etc) and may enable a more precise diagnosis before throwing different parts at it.

Sorry for the late reply on this

We've just got the new sensors connected and unfortunately the error is still showing; states 'heater issue bank 2'

We're at a loss now; so it'll have to go to the local auto sparky as this is out of my remit, unless anyone has any other suggestions
