2015 Jazz Insurance Group
« on: August 12, 2015, 05:33:06 PM »
It looks like the New 2015 /16 Jazz Insurance Group is 13 for most models, the SE CVT is quoted as 13E which is lower than the Group 19 of the old ES Plus, hopefully premiums will be lower. The 1.2 S Jazz 2009-15 is also Group 13.

I've just had my insurance renewal for my Mk 3 SE cvt from RIAS, quoting £849 as against £265 last year for a Mk 2 ES manual.  On enquiry I was told the insurance group has gone from 14 to 22.  The sales brochure for the Mk3 quotes group 18E.  Has anyone else had a grouping problem with the Mk 3?

My wife had a huge price rise for her insurance from a mk 1 to mk 3. Changed insurers and the price halved.

Never auto renew, always shop around. I insure cars for family (4 different cars and don't use a multi car policy), I get quotes for each car as it depends on drivers age etc. Eldest son who I could never get to tell me when his renewal was due (I pay them all)  when after 4 years with Direct Line his insurance was £800+ and shopping around same cover was £168. Never auto renew, loyalty costs the consumer when it comes to insurance.

I was informed last evening my sky box was now out of warranty and I could pay the company ringing me to cover it.
;) My £10 off Ebay 8 year old non sky plus box  :P Surprisingly I declined!

As I was half way through my insurance policy I did a vehicle change,  Yaris turbo diesel to Mk3, the increase was less than a pound.

£20 admin charge though!

Good advice to never auto-renew anything,  they take you for granted.  I never take out the insurance that places like Currys etc. offer either - i think sales assistants must get commission on the insurance as they seem very keen to sell it to you.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I've just checked using Parker's online, and the Mk3 Jazz SE cvt is shown as group 13.  I'll get back to RIAS and ask where they get group 22 from - it's clearly ridiculous.  I've been pleased with their service in the past and have always found them competitive in price.

This may be of help. The insurance companies do not set the cars insurance group but they can charge whatever they can get away with for insurance

Hi,

We normally find the newer the model the lower the insurance group. With advances in technology, safety etc this always has a bearing on lowering insurance groups. I believe the new model jazz's has crash avoidance technology as standard which would also help lower it's group.

Regards,
Dan.

Agree with never auto renew with current provider.

Historically, my renewal is always more expensive than the previous year even though there has been no changes.

I always go on the various price comparison websites (confused, compare the market, gocomapre etc) as even they give different answers.

Sometimes, its even my current provider which is the cheapest but their renewal isn't (if you know what I mean), but regardless whether they are the cheapest or not, I would ring them and tell them I've found cheaper and ask them to match or better it and they would usually do in which case I stay.

I've spoken to RIAS three times about their quote of £849 for renewal, but they are adamant that their underwriters (Ageas) put the Mk3 Jazz in group 22, whereas the Mk 2 was in group 14.  They must think we're so busy fiddling with the infotainment system we don't look where we're going.  I've now had a quote from LV of £233, including legal expense insurance and no claims protection.  The RIAS position is particularly strange as they specialise in insurance for the over 50's, which includes many Jazz drivers.

For the last few years I have found that quotes from RIAS and Saga, both allegedly older driver friendly, have been higher than other reputable companies.

I mentioned my experience with the £850 quote from RIAS (underwritten by AGEAS) to a Honda salesman and he said another customer had told him a similar story about a quote from AA.  Out of curiosity I got an on-line quote from AA and sure enough, at £500+ it was more than double the £240 quote I have had from LV.  AA policies are also underwritten by AGEAS, who have put the MK 3 Jazz into group 22, whereas they put the Mk 2 in group 14!
