Post by: monkeydave on March 19, 2019, 06:18:35 PM
any of you guy got the same noise as this?

on my 2018 jazz just after shut down four clunks, probably normal (maybe something to do with the auto/stop start system etc) this is the first car i have had with the stop/start system, when i did this video i had the button pressed to turn the stop/start off

just looking for a second opinion

It doesn't sound normal to me.  I haven't ever heard it whether the auto stop system is on or off.

thanks for replying

it does it every time and then shortly after the electrical noise goes away too

i was only guessing about the auto start stop

also are you sure you haven't heared it as you cant hear it with the door shut and window up

you got me really worried now, i cant imagine what it can be

here is a better video

just after engine is off you get four taps and one click

really stumped me this one, it must be normal noise the car only has 300 miles on it

has anyone else got a similar noise on their 1.3 ?

thanks guys

best video i can do under the bonnet, it does sound like flaps or relays, hope it is normal

it also does not do the noise if  the engine switches off during stop/start whilst driving, only when you turn the key to leave the car

Wheel it in to a dealer and let a Honda mechanic have a listen.

I have, but I cannot figure what the noise is.

to me it sounds like something in the intake shutting, it doesnt do it during stop/start use whilst driving just turing the car off, there must be other jazzes that make this noise

I listened very carefully today, and sitting in the driver's seat I could just hear a similar noise at the same time after stopping the engine as yours.  However, it is so quiet that I never noticed it in 3 years!  It occurred regardless of the auto stop setting. Perhaps it's related to a pump.

thanks for your reply, i had the car for a week before i heared the noise the first time as i turned the car off stood outside, and now i can hear it from inside now it seems to be louder now also but exacltly the same noise

im glad my car isnt the only one to have this noise and you can hear it from inside the car sat in the drivers seat, i still will try to get to the dealer this sat hopefully a mechanic will be able to say normal (within tollorance) or book it in

I would take it down to the dealership ask for a friendly mechanic to check it out, put your concerns in writing recorded delivery not a t/p call or email, give the dealership notice you are unhappy/ concerned.
One final check run around in a similar spec model ie their demo at the dealership drive it yourself  and record it running then switch off.
Good luck you have a brand new vehicle covered by the 'new' consumer rights act 2015, let the forum know the outcome.

thanks, i will be popping in tomorrow

ive had a closer look today, it is coming round the top of the air intake area where it is joined to the engine, makes a normal jazz noise when running and the noise seems to be a valve, relay or something inside there somewhere reseting itself, it does sound like it could be normal but just a bit loud.

i will add a couple of videos when i get home later.

also im sure i didnt notice this on the test run on this exact car as its a pre reg but had only 16 miles on the clock.

Is it the auto-handbrake cranking up?

been to the dealers today and the mechanic said sounded normal to him and i got another jazz (18 plate) started and stopped a couple of times and it does exactly the same noise after engine shut down so all is well and a false alarm, strange it never did this on my mk2 jazz or any other car though

That shouldn’t be surprising, the Mk3 is a different car with an extensively modified, if not actually new, engine cf. the Mk2. The name “Jazz” just indicates it occupies the same market segment, and Honda’s hopes to sell the Mk3 on the basis of the reputation of the Mk2, rather than indicating any significant commonality.
