2016 Jazz spark plugs
« on: March 28, 2023, 01:39:00 PM »
Hi All.

Just had a call from the garage where the Jazz is having its annual service. 4 spark plugs need replaced in the schedule.  Fair enough.  The price? £150 plus vat!!!! :o

Comments (including possible non oem alternatives) more than welcome!

I'm not exactly sure which model you have, so you need to double check for yourself. The handbook will give the plug reference.
If it's the same as my 2018, then a Denso equivalent plug will be around £20 from a reputable supplier. I usually get plugs etc from either https://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/ or https://www.gsparkplug.com/
Put in your registration to avoid errors.
Denso tend to be a bit cheaper than NGK, I'm happy to use either whichever works out cheaper.

Beware there are plenty of fake spark plugs around from auction site sellers, as you have noted they are expensive items so lots of potential money to be made by scammers. I always use reputable suppliers.

Assuming you have iridium plugs in there, they are good for at least 50k miles so regardless of how old the car is or what the service schedule says, if they are below that sort of mileage and there are no running issues then leave them in. I have run iridium plugs well past 50k miles with no issues.

Honda genuine  Iridium spark Plugs 12290-5R0-003
NGK Iridium DILZKAR7C11S
Maybe also some Denso or Bosch plugs fit in that engine, but I'm not sure, NGK are  OEM.
Do not buy plugs for CNG or LPG if you are running petrol.
You can save some money using no iridium plugs, but the part will not last as the original.

NGK Iridium DILZKAR7C11S

If that's the one, then the Denso equivalent is DXE22HCR11S
https://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/car/ignition/spark-plugs/manufacturer/car/honda/jazz-iv-gk-2013-/1-3-102hp-75kw-09-2015/10765_301565
The Denso plug is for LPG or CNG.
Considering the low price gap, I would stay with NGK that has also an interference suppressor.

Thanks all. I just picked up the car and the garage owner (a guy I know well and trust 100%) was happy to leave the current  :D plugs in while I sourced alternatives to fit myself. He did assure me that they needed replacing so that's a job for the weekend.

It's a 2016 1.3 EX Navi I-VTEC and the NGK site says DILZKAR7C11S are the right plugs ... https://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/catalogues/cars/search/spark-plugs/HONDA/JAZZ/2016/19273/

Thanks again.

Yep, you can buy them NGK branded or also Honda branded, they are the same part.
Just for curiosity, how many miles?

Check shipping costs, anyway the price is similar.
Mine has 60k miles, still working fine.

The Denso plug is for LPG or CNG.

The Denso TT type is recommended for LPG/CNG but can also be used for petrol, as per the Denso recommended info at https://www.denso-am.eu/catalog/pv/116390/ignition/spark-plug

I've used them in a number of different petrol applications ... but use NGK if you prefer.

Yes. Usually spark plugs for cng or lpg have  different thermal specifications, since combustion gases are hotter.

for those of us with the 1.5 Sport , checked the user manual

it uses the same plugs ,      NGK  -  DILZKAR7C11S
                                  or   DENSO - DXE22HCR11S

not sure if the Denso are inferior but they are a fair bit cheaper

Bosch?
Can you kindly write down the product code?
Following the italian bosch part catalogue, they have no spark plugs for the L13B2. There is a part number, 0 242 135 570m but no iridium and without suppressor.
