Popped into the dealership on Tues 25 Aug  just to enquire when a demonstrator would be available and ended up placing an order 2 days later for a Brilliant Sporty Blue SE CVT. Delivery expected around 21 Sept.  Changing from a 2013 ES CVT in Polished Metal.

Hi

Due to pick up our EX Navi in tinted silver tomorrow morning!

Went for the EX as didn't like that the SE didn't have leather steering wheel and no option to add it as an upgrade.  Plus the delivery date was much earlier, otherwise for the colours we considered we were told it would be November before it could be delivered!

Hoping we will be pleased with it.

Ex tinted silver.
I like that you can open the bonnet and petrol cap and not be able to tell that they have not been painted. :-))

For what it is worth we went with the Navi and glad we did.  We have a TomTom and by comparison the screen is tiny

Purchased a new Jazz EX CVT model in April in Milano red. Nice car but much quieter after I had the oil changed @ 6 months use with Castrol Magnatec "Stop Start" oil. This has quietened down the engine at high revs, the noise of which is a characteristic of the rather unpredictable gear changes on CVT models, so I'm told.

Although I've got the EX Navi, I also have a nearly new TomTom from my old car which although has a smaller screen is far more intuitive in my opinion. It also has TomTom's great live traffic and speed cameras which are far superior to the Garmin in the EX Navi. In fact I've been stuck on the M56 in heavy traffic this evening and the EX Navi SatNav didn't report a single hold up or jam!

I do however like the larger screen on the inbuilt SatNav and some of it's features but basically it's not up to the same standard as the TomTom. I will however persevere with it as I don't particularly want to add the TomTom on top of the dash as its too much fiddling about putting the suction cup on the screen and running cables to the USB port! Maybe I'll just use it for especially long journeys and compare it's overall performance against the Garmin.

Hi, I have the Jazz EX Navi manual in Orchid White Pearl with the sport pack fitted. we had a previous model ex in Azure Blue which we bought new in 2013, when the new model was launched in 2015 we were invited to our local dealer for the unveiling and once I saw the white Pearl with the body kit I knew that when it was time to change that was the one I wanted, we bought this one which had been a demonstrator with 1400 miles on the clock, it was 6 months old and came with all the extras as well as the 5 year service plan included in the price, we paid £13999.00 so saved about £4000 on the list price.

I bought Jazz manual in Milano Red colour in January, 2017. The price was 13700 EUR (about 12000 GBP), it was lower than the list price because it was warehouse sale. The mileage now is 6400 km (about 4 K miles). I already made a trip from Latvia to Budapest, Hungary. Very economical car! The fuel economy in this long trip was 4,73 litres on 100 km (about 60 mpg). The only shortcoming - the car seems to be too loud, it has little sound insulation.

1.3 ex cvt the only Honda I have ever had without a wheel nut wrench and a place under the magic seat for the manual.
I got the 1.3 ex cvt last week and it's my z4 th Jazz but now need a degree in how the electronics work
Manual a disaster of instructions....need evening classes

Yes the manual is appalling where the infotainment centre is concerned. It doesn't help that it seems to attempt to cover two versions of the unit at the same time. But frankly whoever wrote it needs a slap from a wet haddock.

Buy a satnav mat that sits on the top of the dash where you can reach the satnav easily.
The satnav is then in your line of sight not some way below and to the left like the built-in ones.
I have been using one for years without a problem.

Alternatively, I have used a circular plastic disc with a sticky underside mounted in the centre of the dash-top - it has worked well in both Mk 2 and Mk 3 versions.  The rubber sucker is then mounted on the disc.

Collected my new Milano Red EX Navi CVT this morning. Sad to see the blue SE go after 22 months but the deal negotiated with Listers of Solihull made the choice very easy! Looking forward to some long journeys over the next few weeks but a bit worried about kerbing those lovely alloys.

When I had my alloys restored it was about 6 months before I got closer than 18" to a kerb. A nice car like that makes me very jealous. I wish you every success with it.

After weeks of thinking and changing my mind, I finally got my new Jazz
last Friday, its a Milano red EX manual, all the new gadgets and gizmos are a bit
daunting, but I will get the hang of them I guess, I got a very good deal
from my local dealer at Letchworth, so all I need now is for the rain to stop.

I don't think leaks are a common problem and they scrub up well when washed.

Wow, Nigel. That does look nice!

I'm trying to make up my mind, which colour I, (we) prefer. For next year's swap.....

The Navigator, thinks, orange. (This week).....  ::)

Tell your navigator to see one in dull weather, they look brown. They only approach orange when clean and in bright sunlight.

I think you need to go to Specsavers. Sunset Orange never looks brown (I have one). I have only washed it twice since taking ownership 18 months ago. It does look better when clean but even dirty it never looks anything other than orange. Dirt just removes the 'exciting edge' a bit and leaves it looking pleasantly orange.

Specsavers, is that where you got your orange tinted specs? :-)

Sunset orange is certainly nearer the brown (red) end of the orange spectrum than the yellow end. I think Honda just put a little splash of yellow in their big pot of Milano red to make sunset orange.

Unfortunately, neither of us are impressed, with the lighter shade, of the Mk3......  :(

Over the years I have 4 Jazz cars, all Milano Red, because I think it is important to be seen on the road.
I find that dark colours and the silver/grey versions seem to blend in with the tarmac road surfaces, making them more difficult to see in bad weather.
I recall many years ago, the fire service was considering changing from red to yellow, so I had a bright yellow Austin Metro for a time. They never did change!!
Title: Re: What Mk3 Honda Jazz do you own?

Yellow is definitely a good colour to be seen. I had the yellow Volvo before getting the Jazz and my wife says she never had any problem seeing it in a car park. She struggles to find the blue Jazz. Don't tell her, but sometimes I have to look more than once for it. So many blue small hatchbacks out there.
I always have old cars (a matter of finance) and red cars tend to fade extremely badly. Always have done. Don't know if the newer paints will be any better but the pigments used in red paint tend not to hold their colour.

Vauxhalls and VWs seem to be the worst.

You must have read my mind Jocko. I've always liked the Milano Red that Honda use and I am looking at some CarWow offers on the Mk3. Milano Red, being solid, comes with no price premium.

But red cars have faded really badly in the past. There is a completely pink Rav 4 - an old one - up our road and the owner says he has owned it from new for 15 years and it started out red!

I think they put clear coat over all solid colours now - I wonder if that does the trick or if red cars are still liable to fade.
Title: Re: What Mk3 Honda Jazz do you own?
Post by: Downsizer on November 25, 2017, 12:38:27 PM
When we bought our (blue) Jazz, the dealer said that if we bought Milano red, we should also pay extra for the fancy coating, to stop fading, which would have brought the price up to near the metallic supplement anyway.  The decider was that a neighbour in the block of flats has a red one and there might have been confusion in the car-park!

Any car of mine, lives in the garage. When it's not in use.

Milano red, shouldn't fade. Over the few driving years, I have left.....  ;)

Must admit wish I had a garage. Previous owners of our bungalow knocked it down! They were quite proud of the fact saying they'd built this nice decking area instead. 2 years after we'd bought it the thing started rotting away. In any event our drive is so narrow we couldn't get a car to it.

But I genuinely think it's better for a car to be garaged - no scraping on frosty mornings for a start.

A carport is a good thing for a car, it lets the air get around it and still keeps the frost and snow off and you don't have to worry about bashing the doors and mirrors.  We have a garage but our cars stay on the driveway,  modern garages are not really big enough for a modern car,  it seems that just like width of spaces in carparks that the width of modern garages is stuck somewhere about 50 years ago when majority of cars were smaller, even a Mini or Fiat 500 are bigger now than a mid sized cars of the 60's and 70's.

Yes - think you are probably right about a carport. I'd thought about one where we now live but the drive at the side of the house is narrow. Makes you realise how big modern cars are these days. Our place was built in 1957 and our next door neighbour reckons her late husband had no difficulty with his Ford Anglia!

Back in the day you could T-Cut the paint on a car. Years ago I bought a red SAAB and it was the colour and texture of a brick. After a hard weekend with the T-Cut my daughter and I had it looking great.
However, several years later I had a Vauxhall Carlton which had Clearkote over the paint. When the paint started to fade no amount of T-Cutting made any difference, because the colour was under the coating. It was like trying to clean the inside of a window, from the outside!
Clearkote (and these UV Guard coatings you can buy) helps to stop the paint fading, but once it does there is no easy means of refreshing it other than a respray.

I have a 16 plate 1.3SE Manual, but want to go for an EX CVT.
Downloaded the " £750 off" test drive voucher, but won't have time now before end January to book a drive.
Probably some catch in it anyway, like they give me £750 less for my SE, or I have less "haggle" power for a better OTR price.
They make their money any which way, so its probably not worth it.

Bought the new 2018 Jazz Sport (SA Edition) last Friday after too many years in a Golf. Did a lot of research on which vehicle to go for and I'm well pleased.

Only issue so far is the infotainment system which is sorely lacking (especially for a techy guy). No built-in Nav, no Android auto, no mirrorlink option, and a very locked down Android 4  ???

Yes, I did take note of this before purchasing the car.

There seems to be a couple of different options :

#1 Installing an aftermarket headunit (worst case).

#2 Disabling the HDMI "safety" feature and hooking up my old Nexus 10 tablet (with HDMI output) which runs Oreo and Android Auto.

#3 https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-how-to-enter-developer-mode-2017-t3621582 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-how-to-enter-developer-mode-2017-t3621582) / https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/android-4-1-headunit-reloaded-android-t3432348 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/android-4-1-headunit-reloaded-android-t3432348)

Since it's a brandnew car I'm not too keen to void my warranty though  :)
Hoping to connect with other fellow 2018 owners and find out what little modifications they've done.

Have they got rid of Mirrorlink then? Earlier units support v1 but last I heard the current Android release v2 and not backwardly compatible. I thought I read that v1 compatibility was being added to v2 but perhaps it never materialised and Honda have just withdrawn their implementation.

All it ever did for me was disable the screen on my S7 Edge requiring me to reboot the phone :-/

Seems like it...

In the meanwhile I've hooked up my Nexus 10 tablet with a brand new high quality HDMI cable, but no joy - only a black screen on the infotainment display.

Tablets works perfectly on any other display I've tested it.

Tested a Miracast and only a half screen, somewhat distorted / flickering image would come up.

Loving the car, but very disappointed with the infotainment system I'll admit.

One thing I did worry about moving from EX to SE spec was losing climate control. I had a set and forget thing during the winter. I've only had this car 10 days but I think I was worrying over very little. I still have a set and forget thing going on with fan set at lowest setting and the vents at screen and feet with the heater control just into the red area. No problems with misting thus far although we haven't had much rain. The main issue will be remembering to switch on the A/C periodically to keep it in good condition.

I had my Volvo for nine and a half years and switch the a/c off about twice. Once when I first got it, to see if it made a difference to mpg (nothing noticeable), and once near the end of my time with it, to check how much of a difference to incoming cold air temp it was making (huge).

I just buy cars with climate control and leave it set at 19 degrees. The only thing I have to change is over winter to direct the output to foot and screen to avoid window misting.

It must have some effect, but less than having the windows open at speeds above 30 mph.  I hate the way climate control blows the air where I don't want it and turns the fan speed right down sometimes,  and when the car interior is 'up' to temperature after a few miles the vents seem to blow cooler air.  I use aircon but prefer to control vents and fan myself.  I actually miss the old rotary knob that allowed you to mix hot and cold air manually,  and continued to blow warm air even when climate control will now decide 'right, the cabin is at set temperature, I will lower the fan and blow cooler air now'.   Air blowing at you at 19 or even 20 deg C can feel cool even though the cabin is supposedly at same temperature.  If you increase temp it blows warmer air for a while and then seems to cool down, I have draught detector in passenger that can detect minute changes in temperature and airflow,  it has an audible alarm as well...

I tried leaving the air con off for a tankful when I had my Volvo and the mpg went from 28 to 29. Decided that was not worth worrying about so just left it on after that.

I doubt the aircon makes much difference either way. For the most part climate control works well but I do think the fan direction is the weak part. It doesn't seem very clever about dealing with windscreen misting in particular. On a cold start it will direct the fan at full speed to the screen...for all of a minute then shunt it back to the cabin. I suspect it doesn't have a humidity sensor which is penny pinching.

Moved from a 15 year old 3 door Honda Civic 1.4S to a Honda Jazz 1.3S. Very pleased with how many gadgets you now get on modern cars. Will get used to six speed gearbox with time as never had a six speed gearbox car before. We have owned it for a few days now and are pleased with it. It is comfortable and roomy.

We have recently picked up a 2019 model (2018 build) Honda Jazz + Sport CVT in black. (ex-Demo)

1.5 SOHC i-vtec

This limited edition of 240 cars sits in between the VTI-S (Mid model) and VTI-L (top model) in the Australian model range. Id have quite liked a manual BUT the manual is only available in the base VTI trim.

Essentially the +Sport is a VTI-S with Black 16" special honda alloy wheels, colour coded everything, parking sensors and Sat Nav.

I do like: space, quite quick off the mark, fuel economy and 7 year warranty.

I dont like:The infotainment system ( sat nav, audio etc). The Sat nav is not as intuitive as say  Google/apple maps and the voice is robotic. The screen angle position means that during the day the screen can be quite difficult to see due to the glare. The reverse camera..awful picture. I think i might swap this unit out for a Kenwood apple carplay unit sooner rather than later.

That might be a fault. The reversing camera on mine isn't HD but it's a clear picture (as long as it's clean) and plenty good enough. Have you cycled through the different viewing angles?

Why do we not get a 7 year warranty in the UK if it can be provided in Australia?

Things don't dissolve into rust in a few years in oz, also this is rip off britain.

To be fair modern vehicles don't either. Any car bought this century will manage 7 years with ease and if detailed will come up looking like new. As for it being 'rip off Britain':

https://www.quora.com/Why-are-cars-so-expensive-in-Australia-2-3-times-more-expensive-than-USA

So it may be that cars are so cheap in the UK that the idea of having a manufacturer's warranty beyond three or four years just seems weird. By contrast you pay so much for a car in Australia that you damn' well expect a decent warranty.

My Jazz is coming up on 13 years. The only sign of rust is on the rear wheel arch, and that is just because I am too lazy to do anything about it!

The 7 year Warranty in Australia also comes with 7 year roadside assist but it is the EOFY sale.
Normal warranty outside sale period - 5 years.

Picking up my Ex Navi CVT in Grey on Thursday (21/09) 2018 plate one owner and 9000 miles.

Came from Skoda Fabia manual just because I fancied a change and after long test drive I actually like the CVT which as I do mostly town driving will be ideal. ;)

I just use my Samsung mobile phone as I can set it up before I go on the journey ... It seems to work OK no matter where I place it and the lady tells me the directions almost like having another Wife.

out of warranty the service goes down to £200, with these long warranties like kia and toyota they keep the service cost high but they dont cover as much as a 3 year honda warranty and also with toyota you only get one year breakdown cover, not 3 or 5 years so it is swings and roundabouts

We have an S 1.3 auto - neither a bell nor a whistle in sight! But we love her still. I see at 3.5% in the poll we are virtually an elite, well an inverted elite I guess.  :-).

Do keep us posted how you get on - I'm also looking at one of these so always interested in 'real world' impressions, especially as you obviously look after your cars (looking at the one you just sold...)
