Hi

Have been looking for a new car since giving up mini cabbing and have settled on a Jazz (probably 2005 SE when I can raise the cash).

This forum has been of great help in weighing up the pros and cons, so can't wait to get on with it, just hoping to avoid the dreaded gearbox problems :-)

Good luck, should be fine. SE has all the best bits although aircon might be faded by now.  2005 cars are probably at the point where battery & exhaust are at or near the end of their life.  Manual is cheaper to service than the CVT.

Now the proud owner of a 55 plate Helios Yellow 1.4SE and loving it  :D

Thanks TG.

Car has new exhaust / cat and a recent new battery, so hoping for decent length of service from them. Aircon pumps out some pretty chilly air, but don't generally have much call for it in this part of the world  ;) Would only ever go for a manual gearbox anyway unless someone convinces me that there is a superior / more economical solution with fewer points of failure  :) No undue gearbox whine / noises anyway which would have been an instant no-no when I was inspecting it....

The steering feel seemed a little odd at first, but have soon gotten used to that and with it delivering 45 - 50 mpg (per trip computer anyway) without too much effort, I'm very happy so far  :D
