Fault P1519 - safe to drive?
« on: May 13, 2016, 11:17:46 AM »
Hi,

(Jazz SE 2003)

I bought a code scanner to find out why the engine malfunction indicator light was on.

The fault code is P1519 which is "Idle Air Control Valve Circuit Malfunction"

I'm guessing the car is still safe to drive with this fault (until I can get it fixed) - does anyone know for certain.

It's safe to drive but it may stall when stationary.

"Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve

To maintain the proper idle speed, the IAC valve changes the amount of air bypassing the throttle body in response to an electrical signal from the ECM/PCM. "

The fault code is P1519 which is "Idle Air Control Valve Circuit Malfunction"

The troubleshooting guide on hondafitjazz.com > control system dtc > 1519 may help, although it's mostly about checking for continuity within the circuit.

This valve is very close to the throttle body and certain models of Jazz have a tight sharp bend in the wiring leading to this point, a break in the wiring at a join in the conduit has caused fault codes relating to the throttle for other owners. It may not be this but seems quite likely if the connections are not at fault.

A tweaker on here bypassed his IAC as he believed it would improve things http://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=2680.msg13325#msg13325
