common faults?
« on: December 16, 2015, 11:20:40 PM »
hi guys

im hoping to purchase a 2009 1.2 SE very shortly.

are there any 'common faults' or anything to look out for?

its 90,000 & full service history, sounds and looks absolutely mint.

(the last MOT sheets have discs & pads as advisories.)

According to the Which? car reliability survey http://www.which.co.uk/static/cars/reliability-check/index.html#100,3-8,combined the electrics are the most likely problem. That Which? info doesn't look so good, but the likelihood of there being problems at all is well below average http://www.which.co.uk/cars/survey/car-reliability/most-and-least-reliable-cars/reliable-superminis/.

Personally I think if you have full service history and everything is in order you are as safe as it can get. My wee Jazz is now at 182,000 and still just had the one sidelight and one battery as the repairs list other than normal service items.
I might splash out on another set of front wipers, after all its Christmas !

In short only the variable service indicator can be over sensitive and a 2009 Jazz would probably be included in the recent airbag recall.

I had an issue with ingress of water into the boot area and I seem to recall at the time that it was not unknown. Cheapish fix though - paid a local bodywork specialist £55 and that included testing the area before and after the repair with high pressure hoses. No recurrence despite torrential rain of late.

Otherwise these cars are pretty bullet proof.
