Are those Daylight Running Lights on the grill?

(Not the new ones which are obviously very bright!!!!)

If so, did they come with the car or did you fit them? Where did you get them and how did you fit them?

All filament bulbs  lose light output with usage,  the inside of the glass envelope coats up with dark deposits - so even if you replace an used bulb with a new one of same type it will look better.

couple of interesting articles about car headlights,  now I know why HID headlights either oncoming or in my rear view mirror annoy the hell out of me - they are supposed to be self leveling but never seem to be,  and only used on dipped beam,  but that is doubtful - especially with illegal HID bulbs which use same bulb for main and dipped beam.

Those actually look illegal, according to the regulations for DRL's the outer edge should not be more than 40cm from the edge of the vehicle and the distance between the lamps must be more than 60cm. :-X

That's not correct! This was an old law which changed several years ago. There is no minimum or maximum width from the edge of the car, this 40cm law only applies to cornering lamps. The minimum distance between the lamps must be 60cm like you say, and if they are closer than 4cm to the indicator that one must switch off while the indicator is on. I posted the EU regulations a while ago so if you search for daytime running lights you will find the thread with the attachment, otherwise I can add the link again.

:o Phew I got a bit worried then and rushed off to find a ruler.

If they were illegal in any way I would be straight down to the Honda garage.

I think you are right Hobo,  standard front number plate is about 560 wide,  and outside edge of lamps doesn't look much past edge of number plate.

Agreed and looking at the Philips Youtube video it is the inside edges that the measurement is taken from.

So, obviously no one at the garage today...

Monday morning I will go down to sort this out. :(

Can't imagine my garage would do it if they were not legal.

Just been down to measure the space between DRL's.

The distance between the lights is 36cms from inside edge to inside edge.

The distance between the centre of the lights is 60cms.
