I have just shipped my 2008 Honda Fit Sport (USDM) from the US to the UK where I will live for about 3 years. I'd like to register it and I am just noticing that I should have done some more research in advance - I was completely unaware of the complications regarding the headlight beam dipping.
Talking to various specialists on lighting conversions here in the UK, the conclucsion seems to be that the only way to get the vehicle registered would be to replace the current headlights by RHD ones to get the correct beam pattern.
I posted this question on the US Forum fitfreak.net and someone told me that people on this forum should be able to help with this. I have received three (somewhat conflicting) suggestions so far:
(1) Try to fit in 2006 Jazz RHD headlights which seems to be close to the shape I have, however, comparing Honda's schematic drawings the headlight mounts are not identical so some tweaking may be needed.
(2) Get Jazz RHD headlights, open up the headlights (by heating them up) and exchange the reflector shields which should fix the beam pattern.
(3) (Conflicting (2)) One can simply replace the BULBS and not the reflector shields since these are responsible for the correct dipping.
Any help/opinion on this would be greatly appreciated!
