Thermostat Replacement. I need some help
« on: March 10, 2013, 12:48:29 PM »
Hi All,

I attempted to change the thermostat on my 2005 1.4 today.  Unfortunately I was defeated, and I'm looking for advice from someone who has done this before.

I was working through the haynes manual happily (Took the battery out for ease of access, then the air cleaner assembly).  I got to step 4.13, when it mentions to remove 2 bolts (one securing the wiring harness and one securing the earth strap from the camshaaft thrust cover).  Again these 2 were no problem.

My problem is with the last part of step 4.13 (illustration 4.13c) where it mentions:  "Slide the wiring harness rearwards off the support bracket".  There simply isn't enough free play in the wiring harness to slide it back.  This wiring harness is blocking access to the 3rd bolt (from left to right) of the thermostat housing, so without getting the harness out of the way some how, I'm unable to access this 3rd bolt and complete the job.

Any advice from someone out there that's done it before would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks in advance,
Justin
