Engine fan
« on: November 06, 2011, 06:42:51 PM »
Hi folks
Just taken delivery of a new 1.4 jazz and was wondering if i have a problem, the engine fan comes on a lot even when the engine is still cold.
My wife put the car in our garage with a stone cold engine she just stated it up and first gear into the garage the fan came on about 15 seconds after starting and ran for about 10 seconds then went off.

Just wondered if anyone else has this happen
Many thanks

It could be the fan for the air conditioning. Check to see if the AC is switched on.

I have had my Jazz 3 years from new and the fan is often coming on, even as you say when the engine is cold. I've just got used to it and ignore it . I'm sure it's not a problem.

With aircon on, my fan behaves just as you've described. Switch aircon off and the fan doesn't operate while the engine is cool/cold - in fact it'll most likely stay off till the engine is hot, idling stationary. Mine has done that for 2 years/20,000 miles. Think yours (and mine) is as designed.

Yipe- as everyone has mentioned so far, if the A/C is on- the fan does come on and off quite regularly.

I remember reading its maybe due to the small engine but I could be wrong.

Either way, there isnt a problem and guess its designed or just the way it is.

:) I was told so at local Honda garage but I've lost  confidence with them long time ago.
