Dashboard ‘Eco’ leaf indicator
« on: November 17, 2023, 06:40:33 PM »
My understanding was that the leaf indicator on the dashboard gave an indication of how ‘efficiently’ one had conducted each journey at its conclusion after turning off the ignition. After a journey using a high proportion of petroleum power it would give fewer bars on the display than after a mostly battery electric journey.

For the last few weeks this seems to have changed as now after every journey I get a ‘full house’ of leaves showing.

Have I misunderstood how this is meant to work, has the software changed (the car was serviced relatively recently) or have I changed a setting without realising it?

If the Econ button was turned on when it went into the dealer it could be they reset the 'drive cycle score'? Have a look at page 162/3 of the owners manual for what I mean

I've never understood the leaf idea

I've had some really smooth, low acceleration, low braking drives and got mixed scores.

Don't really see the point of this display
Let's be careful out there !

It is a green washing gimmick. I had it on previous Renaults too. Serves no purpose whatsoever, and the sole principal is to make you think you are being a careful and green driver. The only displays that have any relevance to your driving style are the bar that moves across the screen and denotes what your current MPG is, and then the numerical display of current MPG. The only thing I take notice of is the average MPG over all the mileage I have done. When I bought the car, I zeroed the B mileometer, and have never reset it. In nearly 15k it tells me that I have averaged 70MPG.
To hell with the cabbages.

This is the accumulated drive cycle score. If drive economically for long enough you reach three bars on the bottom and five green trees. The number of leaves showing represents your driving style.

According to page 162 of the manual the score can be reset:

I normally get a full crop of leaves on a normal journey.   But if you do a short journey, or even power up then power down again without travelling anywhere  it can be regarded  as an inefficient trip and affect your 'score'.

Maybe  I am sulking because  the car has never  judged me to be to be  "Voltermore the Magnificent" and given me an Eco award  . :P       I suppose if I regularly got poor leaf  results I might notice and  try to improve.

You can turn (no, push) it off!!! Push the ECON button,
I mean the full screen display you get when you switch off.

?? Sorry I don't understand.
I don't use the ECON button, can you use that to get rid of the row of leaves display when you turn off the car?

Wires got crossed here somehow. I did not mean the #38 line to be in the quote (didn't know what it was). The thread is about the switch off leaves display, and I thought there was no way of disabling it. The Jazzik post seems to say you can do it with the Econ button which I don't understand how. Could not find any way in the manual.
