Intermittent Wipers
« on: March 08, 2023, 01:58:02 PM »
My wipers when set at intermittent really are intermittent !
When I stop at traffic lights they will continue at the delay settings and sometimes they don't.
When I pull away sometimes they don't restart at all.
Not a great problem as I just switch to continuous wipe, they do seem to have a mind of their own.
Might be a software issue, I can mention it at the next service, does anyone else have this issue ?
It will be alright in the end, if it's not alright then it's not the end !

Not so much problems ,more my not really having learned how to use all its clever tricks   :-[   Is it possible the automatic rain sensors are enabled in some way and sometimes 'decide' there isnt enough rain to justify a wipe just yet. ?

At first I also experienced some 'not very logic' behaviour of the wipers when on intermittent. It does not use a time interval, but the camera is used to decide whether the windscreen has any droplets on it. You can change the sensitivity by setting the ring on the wiper stalk. That can change things for the better.

Other things that might influence it:
- is the sensor (camera behind mirror on windscreen) clean?
- is the solar angle very odd, so that the camera might be blinded?
- did you recently go into a car wash that added a wax layer onto your car? I had to remove that layer because the wipers would not function properly at all (not only on intermittent): stripes, glare, whitish look

In very slow traffic, I sometimes just put the wipers OFF and manually press the stalk up to just do one wipe. At higher speeds intermittent is usually quite okay.

Good luck!

Mine are working fine. I've got the rotate roughly in the centre of travel and it sweeps at just the right time for me.
Let's be careful out there !

This is one of the only annoyances I've had since recently getting my Jazz. I can't seem to get mine to wipe very often, even with the sensitivity set to maximum (I presume + is more sensitive). When I have had them going, they were on at full pelt.

It's a shame there isn't just a manual intermittent setting, given there are options for slow and fast wiping.

Nothing to complain about here. Only that they work too often (because of our wonderful climate).

Mine seem undersensitive - ie do not come on when I would previously have manually activated them.
I will look at the adjustment stalk thingy though and see if that helps

No problem here, they work quite well, only very occasionally have to do a manual swipe. Check the camera windscreen area is clean and play with the sensitivity control?

I've seen similar posts on other Honda forums where some owners are unaware of the rotating intermittent wipe adjustment.

I always make a point of reading the manual to make full use of all the modern features.

Decades ago it was just jump in and drive, but these days ......
Let's be careful out there !

I get the same issue, the sensitivity control doesn't seem to make much difference. The screen can be quite wet and it still doesn't wipe, does eventually but the wait is annoying.

I've tried adjusting that many times so I can discount that as the reason.

I wonder why so many variations ?

At just the point I would have wiped manually mine cut in for the single sweep.
Let's be careful out there !

Our's are hopeless, never seem to be able to get the correct delay. My old Mazda 626 had a mechanical six position switch that was great, real intermittent.
