Hi everyone..I have a jazz ex navi 20 reg, and my fitted Garmin sat nav is aweful..is there a way of getting live traffic updates on screen, as I am fed up with relying on info, only to find road closures, and traffic queues which sat nav has not identified..Thanks

On that model you should have TMC RDS.

It's the MK4 that has no traffic

I think it does have rds, but I think it's just updated over the radio signal, which seems to be aweful..just last week I was instructed to exit the motorway due to road works closing motorway..I gambled and carried on...There was no closure or hold up..

Yes, RDS is pathetic.

They get their motorway and limited A road traffic from their sensors. That gets sent to TrafficMaster HQ for processing. Then is sent to subscribing radio stations for onward transmission.

My experience on the M25 in the evening peak was that it was often 15 to 30 minutes out of date and the tail of the jam was frequently 10 miles wrong so you thought you could get to your exit junction OK, but in reality you hit a long jam.

My answer to that was to run a Garmin DS61 that uses Inrix traffic and is spot on with updates between one and two minutes.

Can this be run through the car sat nav screen, or will it be another piece of kit to plug in and hang off the dash/windscreen ??

Add-on unfortunately.

I'm happy with mine though as it gives me traffic for the whole of my route, unlike Google Maps that I find restrictive in that way.

Yes it offers a diversion but doesn't show the problem like my DS61 :
