How remove tailgate plastic lining?
« on: December 29, 2022, 10:55:23 AM »
Some kind person has put a shallow dent in our tailgate. I don't feel it is worth spending a lot to get professionally repaired but do feel if I could get behind it it might (partially at least) push out and look slightly better.

I can't see any obvious method of removing the tailgate lining to do this. I think it must be a matter of applying force to unclip and work round but where is best point to start?

Thanks

If its shallow  involving a large area of thin sheet  rather than a localised  depression  you could try  pulling  the dent from the outside rather than pushing it out from the inside. If you are lucky  one or more powerful rubber suckers may have  enough pulling force to pop the dent back into place  without any dismantling. There may also be less risk of the pushing tool causing new damage to a thin panel  or you pushing the dent out too far.     It may not work, but worth a try  first.
