One year on - Update another 16 months on
« on: August 02, 2021, 11:30:38 AM »
It’s almost a year since we bought the Jazz and the car now looks more like a 3 year old rather than the 15 year old we purchased.

Probably spent as much as much on it as we did to purchase it but we now have a smart looking, low mileage car that suits both me & my wife as daily transport. Hopefully will keep running for many years to come (the car & both of us).

A couple of pictures after yesterday’s wash.

Added value achieved, the wheels set it off. Great result.

Very impressive indeed. Did you have to deal with any rust and what kind of mileage is on the clock?

Looks smashing. The headlight lenses and the wheels really add the finishing tough. They are often the dead giveaways. Our 2005 SE Jazz is now in the hands of my youngest as a family runabout and tiling van. It is scraped and banged up  a bit, rusty on the rear wheel arches and looks shocking. But mechanically it is as sound as ever. Just had a brake hose fail today so £60 to sort that. First issue in two years.

Not really any rust to speak of, just a bit of surface rust   underneath, which I have cleaned up and sprayed with ACF50. The usual places such as the bottom of the rear wheel arches is solid.

Mileage was 47k now just over 51k.

Some minor bodywork dings removed and all the door and bumper rubbing strips replaced, managed to find all new old stock items from eBay at sensible prices. Replaced damaged passenger door mirror.
Machine polished with Rotary and dual action polishers as appropriate using Angelwax Regeneration
Headlamps polished and sealed with Sonax headlight coating.
Classic car LED Headlight, sidelight, stop light and reversing light bulbs fitted.
New front lower wishbones.
New brake calipers, discs and pads all round
New rear & middle exhaust section.
Wheels refurbished.
New Yokohama tyres all round.
New aircon condenser
New spark plugs
New wiper blades
Oil and filter (twice)
New air and cabin filters
CVT triple flush.
Radio replaced by double din CarPlay unit.
Catloc fitted
New Yuasa battery
Rear parking sensors fitted.
Hard wired front dashcam fitted.

Sensible approach to maintenance will pay back over time. I share your use of used Honda Jazz parts they will always fit as they left the factory. Another update in 2022?

Do you have any photos of the car when you first acquired it? It would be interesting to compare.

Sadly I didn't take any, the photos from the selling garage were so 'enhanced' they are meaningless.

The only thing that lets it down now is the rear bumper which has been painted in the past but is not a great match, it annoyed me for a time but I've learned to live with it, after all it is an old car!

There are many other small things I have done this past year, which keeps me busy and out of mischief.

My other car also gets a lot of love.

I don’t know which is more impressive. The MX5 looks great but so does the garage!

I cheated.....it's not my garage! The picture was taken by the detailer who ceramic coated it.

Looks amazing mate, your hard work has paid off, thank you for sharing with us, and all the detailed explanations of work schedule. Honda should get you to work in their design dept.
I want mine to look like this, I've owned it about a month, fantastic car.
