Additional info will help members, what model year when last serviced what happened just prior to the noise occuring, does the noise vary with engine speed or road condition?

Easiest thing to check is the auxillary/drive belt. Could be the tensioner pulley or alternator.

The manual http://hondafitjazz.com/manual3/index.html details removal of the belt under 'Engine Charging System'.

HTH.

Would go along with this - does sound slightly louder lower down.  Take the drive belt off and see if the noise stops.

With the engine turned off (obviously) and the belt removed try spinning the pulleys by hand to see if any of them make any unusual noise or do not turn smoothly. Try waggling them side-to-side looking for any looseness.

Thanks for suggestions. Its 2008/2009 model mk2 93 000k miles and been serviced regularly. Drives perfect its just this noise what bothers me. May be alternator or ac compressor i guess. Alternator works fine. But A/C is not working. Done the air con presure test and and all is good.

If the A/C pressures have been checked and found OK then it should be working.

What sort of check has been done?

If it were me, I'd be releasing the tension of the belt and having a spin of the tensioner pulley. Shouldn't make any noise. Cheapest and easiest thing to check first.
