I hope the Jazz hybrid is going to follow in it's earlier incarnation's tyre tracks.
Previous to my Jazz (my first Honda), I had 12 consecutive Renaults, and have to say that I was very pleased and never had any issues whatsoever with any of them apart from a sticking automatic handbrake in a Scenic. Interesting that Renault are not listed in either list.

The Mk4 in 4th place only very slightly less than the Mk3. The top ten:

Reliability of small cars aged up to five years old
Rank   Make and model   Score
1.   Toyota Aygo (2014-2022)   99.1%
2.   Honda Jazz (2015-2020)   98.7%
3.   Volkswagen Up (2012-present)   98.4%
=4.   Honda Jazz hybrid (2020-present)   98.2%
=4.   Hyundai i10 (2014-2020)   98.2%
6.   Hyundai i20 (2015-2020)   98.1%
=7.   Suzuki Swift (2017-present)   98.0%
=7.   Toyota Yaris hybrid (2011-2020)   98.0%
9.   Mini hatchback (2014-present)   97.0%
10.   Skoda Citigo petrol (2012-2020)   95.8%

Just shows how variable these surveys are, the Mini result here is nowhere near as bad as the Mini result in the first post  :D

"There are lies, damned lies and statistics"     It can depend who you ask, and exactly what you ask.   Some surveys or  customer perceptions are affected by customer satisfaction with the dealership .  A minor fault  immediately fixed without fuss by a  friendly helpful dealer may be overlooked while hassle with the dealer to get stuff fixed or explained will be remembered.   I believe the most common customer complaints for most brands of car are related to infotainment/ media connection issues.

There is the electric one... which would be classed in the '....to present' bracket.

I always considered J.D. Power (not really relevant for Europe, but still...) as the "most interesting" ??? car rating. How do they determine what's the "best car"?

Well, this way:
"When you go shopping for a new car, you naturally want to know which ones are the best. There are many ways to determine this, but at J.D. Power, we listen to the Voice of the Consumer. That way, our list of the best cars is based on what people like you have to say about their new vehicles after they’ve owned them for at least 90 days."

And what is their ratings methodology?

"We base our independent and unbiased ratings on detailed survey feedback from verified car owners each year to uncover and understand their experiences over the first three-months of ownership and, subsequently, their experiences over the first three-years of ownership. For real insider knowledge, our surveys cover vehicle attributes such as quality and reliability, driving experience, and the car dealership experience (buying and servicing the car). We even factor in resale value, using our industry-leading valuations data. Every detail matters!
Quality and reliability (40%), driving experience (20%), resale value (20%), and dealership experience (20%)."

The only rating that tells me something important about the car is Quality and reliability (40%).
Driving experience (20%) is of course still about the car but will be assessed purely individually by everyone and should be examined during a test drive.
Resale value (20%), and dealership experience (20%) have nothing to do with the reliability or quality of the car itself.

So... what about such "ratings"?  :P

The article was about mini hatchback which could include the electric and the rest is irrelevant.

I agree with Jazzik. There are so many polls of owners around now, cut and diced in different ways by different publications, no overall consistency etc, leaving the reader somewhat confused. But we all know on the grapevine and with our own experiences that Hondas and Toyotas are consistently reliable, satisfying to own, so a safe place to put your money if reliability is key. Which it is to me  :D
