Trafficmaster TMC RDS
« on: April 25, 2023, 10:19:08 AM »
I'm seeing many reports that Trafficmaster TMC RDS is no longer working on VAG cars.

Apparently Trafficmaster turned it off end of March.

I've just seen one report of a Civic no longer receiving traffic.

Those Jazz that have built in traffic, is it still working ?
Let's be careful out there !

IIRC it is a data stream within the RDS stream on Classic FM's VHF service.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_message_channel#United_Kingdom

Apparently all other commercial stations in the Global group (Capital, Heart, Smooth, LBC, etc.) carry it, too.

It's an encrypted service. Perhaps the key has changed and certain car manufacturers haven't sent out updates, or haven't renewed their contracts.

Yes, that's the service, the one via FM radio.

I just wondered if it's still working for anyone here so I can tell the Civic owner that it's still working.
Let's be careful out there !

Been posted on the Civic forum that RDS-TMC hasn't been working for a few weeks now. Same as posted on VAG and Fiat forums.

It does look like the post on Briskoda is correct and Trafficmaster have turned it off on the 10th April.

Maybe Honda had some advance info and why the MK4 didn't come with it.
Let's be careful out there !
