Last Friday (13th April) i attended my first track day of 2012, it was with Hondas on Track (HoT) at Castle Combe.
I was itching to get back out on track, but a little dubious of how my little Jazz would perform with allot of faster/more powerful machinery on track with me.
Here are a couple of photos i took on Thursday, the day before.
Car freshly washed, hoovered and copious amounts of RainX applied to the windscreen:
Rear seats removed (to shed some weight) and everything packed away (Track Tyres, Oil, Fuel, Water, Tools, Pump, Helmet & Gloves etc):
I set off from home at 5am on the Friday morning and battled through thick fog on the M4 to get there just before the gates opened at 7am. I was the first to arrive at the track so i set about unpacking my car and getting it ready for the day which involved fitting my track wheels & tyres and attaching the front tow hook.
The day was divided in to 4 sessions per hour, us at HoT were on track that the beginning of every hour (9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm), the other 3 session per hour were filled by Lotus on Track (LoT).
The Castle Combe track is approximately 2 miles long, and with just 12 cars on track at any one time, there is plenty of room for everybody.
Here are a couple of photos that i took before the first session.
My little Jazz (ready for action):
And some of the others members of HoT:
As far as my day went, i had an absolutely brilliant time. My little Jazz performed really well, brakes worked perfectly and she handled surprisingly well. I was achieving somewhere around 95-100mph at the fastest point on the circuit and i even caught and overtook an Integra DC2 in one session!
Lol.
All in all, i had a fantastic day. I'd highly recommend joining HoT for a track day if you like this sort of thing. They are an excellent club which take great pride in their driving skills and track manners.
Here are a couple of other photos i found posted online:
Hope you enjoy looking at the photos etc.
Steve.
