Rear Windscreen Wiper
« on: January 20, 2018, 07:34:35 PM »
If I still have the front windscreen wipers on and then select 'reverse' - our Jazz is an auto - the rear wiper operates automatically. Is there a way to stop this happening?

Not sure about this. I usually have my wipers on auto mode. I have to reverse out of my drive more often than not and, if the windscreen is wet, the front wipers give a sweep as does the rear wiper. This doesn't bother me as the rear window is usually damp as well.

It it's dry, nothing happens. Neither front or back wipers operate. It would annoy me if the rear wiper gave a sweep in these circs but it doesn't.

Sorry - not really answering your question but just wonder why it's a problem.

Not a problem, to me......

Hi

I believe it does this because if front wipers are on, then it’s wet/rainy and the rear wipers swipe twice to clear the rear screen of any water and allow good visibility

I do not know if it can be disabled but you could turn off front wipers so rear wiper does activate

I do have to say I found the rear wipe good myself

Many thanks

John

My wifes GE does the same (if front wipers on the rears will wipe the screen if reverse gear is selected), don't think it can be disabled.  There is also something that makes the rear wipers operate intermittently sometimes when front wipers are on but still figuring out what it is.

Mine gives an initial, two swipes. Then reverts to intermittent, if reverse gear is engaged long enough.

Never noticed, auto, intermittent rear wipe, at any other time....

Our car is parked on the driveway and i always drive away in reverse gear. So it's a nice feature. :)
